Mission Statement
We will work to contribute to the physical, emotional and social growth and development of the community by offering a varied range of recreational experiences.

 

Sandys Community Centre's Objectives

  1. To enrich the quality of life in the community by providing well organized and constructive leisure opportunities.
  2. To provide a facility and a variety of services for the physical and mental development of all members of the community.
  3. To encourage community participation in positive programs under leadership that offers the community desirable and enjoyable alternatives.
  4. To strengthen neighborhood and community life by providing residents with the opportunity to work on special projects or programs in a volunteer service role, thus promoting civic pride and neighborhood unity.
  5. To help strengthen and improve the quality of community life, by providing sports, cultural events and other recreational programs and activities.
  6. To encourage concern for nature by sponsoring ecological programs, or other conservation-oriented projects.

THE SANDYS COMMUNITY CENTRE PROGRAMS

The Sandys Community Centre has two facilities in Sandys Parish- one on Kitchener Road, Boaz Island and the other at "Historic Springfield", 29 Somerset Road. The Boaz Island facility opened its doors to the general public in 1995 with the help of the Sandys Rotary Club. The Springfield facility consists of 6 acres of property, including a Nature Reserve and a few gardens, and was open for operation in July 1999.

Both facilities are open upon request for: Birthday Parties, Anniversary Parties, Baby Showers, Wedding Showers, Wedding Receptions, Workshops, Food Hamper Distribution, etc.

The Boaz Island location is open Mondays to Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The Springfield location is open Mondays to Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
