Mid Term Camps

Mid Term Camp Activities Objectives

  • To promote and support leisure activities through recreation
  • To support leadership training, development, and accreditation for the implementation of day camping programs and services
  • To support local day camping during the school breaks
  • To ensure that parents are able to send their children to an affordable, first-class, safe program during the various school breaks

Mid Term Camp Activities include...Mid Term Camp

  • Sponsored and managed by the Bermuda Government
  • A quality and affordable program
  • A rewarding experience for participants who arrive at camp with a positiveAttitude, in the spirit of Cooperation with a strong sense of Maturity andPrepared to do their best

The program provides...

  • Childcare services for Primary & Middle School students at affordable prices
  • A safe and supervised environment for children
  • Activities that will develop the Summer Day Camp Theme
  • Summer employment for college and university students in order to give them some first-hand experience in child care related disciplines

Mid-term Break Camps run during the breaks when public schools are on vacation. These camps are usually held in December, and April of each year. There are usually three camps which have 40-50 campers each.

Summer Day Camps run during the summer vacation. These camps consist of the following:

  • 1 preschool camp with 40-50 campers
  • 6 day camps for students who have completed Primary 1-Primary 5 with 100 campers per camp
  • 2 teen camps for students in Primary 6-M2 with 40-50 campers per camp

Camp Caregivers
Supervisors- Trained teachers or mature adults with child care experience
Assistant supervisors- Trained teachers or mature adults with child care experience
Counselors- University or college students (18 years & older)
Specialists- Persons trained in the disciplines of art, music, dance, and sport
Volunteers- Upper middle school students (14 years old)
It is mandatory that all School Age Activities staff attend the training workshops and all employees must have CPR and First Aid training

Applications for these positions are available December of each year at the main office of the Department of Youth, Sports, and Recreation.
